The Carrier/Bryant/Payne Part # is EF660015, which is a kit that includes a Gas Valve, LP Kit, Instructions, and a couple brass adapters you may or may not need. This valve is designed to replace many older Carrier/Bryant/Payne Gas Valves, including all the valves mentioned below. The White Rodgers # is 36J24 510, which replaces many older White Rodgers valve #s.
Function:
The gas valve is a low voltage control (usually 24 VAC) that allow gas into the combustion chamber. It is also an adjustable regulator that insures proper gas pressure for combustion. They have a manual shut off.
